To bring live images from organic farms and regional producers into the sales area, providing customers with full transparency about farming conditions, we’ve collaborated with our technology partners to develop a compact live streaming system. The first pilot branch at Rewe Richrath was very popular. This solution is now being used as “Tierwohl-TV” in numerous stores throughout Germany. In addition to Tierwohl-TV, we have also introduced the IP live streaming concept as a stand-alone VTIS solution at other retailers.
Today’s customers want to consume in an environmentally conscious way and are willing to pay the right price for it. In return, the customers demands quality and complete transparency. Simple organic labels are often no longer sufficient. Pictures, on the other hand, say more than 1000 words and live pictures provide revocable proof of the husbandry conditions. The underlying idea and challenge of this project was therefore to offer the customer 100% transparency. When buying animal products, the customer should be able to see live under what conditions the animals are kept. The technical challenge was to build a lean and simple live streaming system that could reliably deliver high-quality live images in remote areas, despite poor or non-existent network infrastructure.
