Reference project:
Childhood Haus
Development
& planning
We built the first Childhood Haus site, from assembling the hardware and software components to network planning and commissioning.
Successful
concept
The first location in Düsseldorf was followed by further facilities in Heidelberg and Berlin. A Germany-wide expansion is planned.
Full service
system integrator
In the further course of the project, we were responsible for the delivery of the preconfigured video and network technology, the installation and commissioning as well as the training of the employees on site.
Our
motivation
This project has become a VTIS matter of heart, as we can actively contribute with our know-how to help minors who have been injured in a sustainable way.
About the project
Minor victims of violence and sexual abuse are exposed to high psychological pressure and need very long and intensive processing periods. But how can this be reconciled with ongoing investigations, in which the children often have to testify before the accused?
In cooperation with our partners, we have developed a smart solution for this problem with components from video, network and audio technology. With the primary goal of preserving the best interests of the child, an effective system for child-friendly interrogation rooms has thus been created.

The challenge
Bringing aggrieved minors into a familiar and safe environment where they can testify against their abusers without being exposed to a psychologically or physically dangerous situation. This was the challenge for the interrogation room concept. By spatially separating the offender and the victim, the goal is to reduce stress and, above all, the fear of the victims during an interrogation.
This new system is mainly used by authorities such as the police, courts or university hospitals. The use of network technology also guarantees independence of location, e.g. for investigations or interrogations.

Implementation
With IP video cameras and corresponding software from Axis Communications in the interrogation room, we provide live transmission to specified recipients. Audio data is also transmitted. In the interrogation room itself, no video or audio signals arrive from outside. Silent communication is ensured with the help of a laptop and a special chat program.
The VMS used was specially designed to meet the needs of the required synchronous video and audio technology.
All cameras are operated via a central workstation and questions are sent to the specialist in the interrogation room using the chat program. The live image is displayed with the highest quality on a large screen. Forensic evaluations are also possible thanks to the high image resolution.
